Phishing e-mails often try to create a false sense of urgency intended to provoke the recipient to take immediate action; for example, phishing emails frequently instruct recipients to "validate" or "update" account information or face cancellation.

A Few Examples:

  • We have hacked your account and will steal all of your information if you don’t click below to stop it
  • Your account has been compromised and you should click here to make sure it’s safe

Be very cautious of any email asking you to update sensitive information particularly if it has a generic greeting. Remember: Joust will NEVER ask you for your account number, password, or any other identity information via email.
